But this incident had a greater impact on her life as the impression stayed forever. She grew more interested in paranormal energy and hence got a degree in psychology from the University of Arizona and was mentored by para-psychologist William Roll throughout her degree.

Amy is an experienced investigator in the field of parapsychology, having investigated more than 350 cases.

Her work on Dead Files

Amy played a major role in the show as the medium who interacted with the spirit. She’s been associated with the show since its very first season, which premiered in 2011. The show aired until its fifteenth season, which was premiered in 2023.

Amy, along with her co-host, retired homicide detective DiSchiavi, unfolds hidden horror activities and paranormal situations, communicates with the dead, and tries to understand their past.

The two co-hosts performed their work separately. DiSchiavi usually communicates with the people in the locality, the house owners, about how they came to the conclusion that the house is haunted, and Amy communicates with the dead and learns about their past. At the end of the episode, the two co-hosts do the grand reveal regarding their discoveries.

Why did Amy Allan Leave Dead Files?

In one of her Q&A videos on Instagram, Amy was asked about the reason behind her leaving the show, to which she replied that she was experiencing physical, mental, and spiritual pain at the same time.

The Dead Files host explained how it was physically exhausting to travel eight months a year without a place to call home.

She would always be all around and had no time to heal and take care of herself. She always had a camera around her, and the lack of privacy was silently killing her.

She wasn’t going on a very good phase of her life as her marriage was tearing down, which isn’t really confirmed, but her Instagram suggests that she’s been living alone in her new place.

Besides that, she explained how a job at Dead Files wasn’t for a sensitive person like her, and the incidents while unfolding the mystery almost killed her.

Also, the major reason she joined the show was for educational purposes, which clearly wasn’t happening in the show.

Lastly, Allan concluded by saying that she will not be returning back to dead files anytime soon, and if she becomes part of any show in the coming future, she will only do so if the makers are doing it for the right reasons and the working environment is healthy.

Unfortunately, after Amy left The Dead Files, the show got canceled due to monetary issues, as revealed by fellow star Steve DiSchiavi.

What is Allan doing now?

Allan is in the process of healing and taking care of herself. She is seen taking vacations and enjoying herself with her pets, as she is also an animal lover. Allan also has an online store, along with her friend Danielle, that sells stones, antiques, clothes, and oddities. A percentage of earnings from her store goes to fur babies, the homeless, vets, and to help resolve paranormal issues.
